What printing menus really costs, and the eco-friendly alternative

The bill nobody adds up
Every restaurant manager knows the price of the last menu order, but few total it over a year. Let's do it for a mid-size Doha restaurant: 40 tables, a four-page laminated menu, and price or item changes four times a year.
- 60 copies × 45 QAR per laminated copy = 2,700 QAR per print run
- 4 runs a year = 10,800 QAR
- Add Ramadan menus, Eid specials and seasonal offers, and it often passes 13,000 QAR
That is before counting time: design, proofreading, the trip to the printer, and a week of waiting while items sell at old prices.
The hidden cost: the printed mistake
A typo or an outdated price on a printed menu stays in front of guests for months. On a digital menu it is fixed in thirty seconds and nobody notices it existed.
The environmental impact in numbers
Laminated paper menus are hard to recycle because of the plastic layer. 240 menus a year for one restaurant is roughly 60 kilograms of mixed paper and plastic going to landfill. Multiply that by the thousands of restaurants and cafés in Qatar and "paperless" stops being a luxury and becomes the responsible default.
What a QR menu costs instead
- One flat monthly subscription with unlimited updates, two languages, every branch.
- Table stands bought once (from 35 QAR) that last for years.
- No fee on orders; guests order through WhatsApp or delivery apps as they already do.
For the restaurant in our example that is a saving of more than 80% of the yearly printing budget, plus the time lost between the printer and the proofreading. Compare the plans on the pricing page.
Why a free PDF link is not enough
Many places start with a free QR code pointing at a PDF. It loads slowly, cannot switch language, tells you nothing about what guests look at, and the free code can stop working when the service shuts down. A real page works as a mini website for your business.
The bottom line
Printing is neither free nor harmless. One digital menu removes most print runs, speeds up decisions and makes your restaurant more flexible. Start with the 14-day free trial and count the difference yourself.
